Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue - Grande Prairie, Alberta
Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue is a primarily volunteer run, registered charitable organization and non-profit in Grande Prairie, AB. Our focus is to help injured, homeless, abandoned, or otherwise in need animals find permanent and loving homes. We focus on dogs and cats from our community as well as northern Alberta and surrounding areas.
We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of public donations and fundraising efforts. Most of our animals are in foster care but we do have a safe haven facility that has restricted public access for the health and safety of our animals.
Paws and Claws Animal Rescue - Red Deer, Alberta
We are a group of dedicated animal lovers working to improve animal welfare in Alberta. We work with owners and citizens to rescue dogs and cats in need of care, rehabilitation and a second chance at life.
We provide routine veterinary care and services, including vaccinations, spay and neuter, microchips and deworming for our rescue animals. We also provide specialized care for them as needed such as dental work, antibiotics, wound care, and necessary surgeries.
During the past fifteen years, Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Foundation has made a considerable difference in the quality of life for many animals on the reserve and throughout Central Alberta. We have placed thousands of abandoned or surrendered puppies, dogs, cats and kittens into loving homes. We have provided tons of food and veterinary care for many companion animals. We have funded emergency medical care and, in a few instances, euthanasia for those beyond help. We also treat minor wounds and provide first aid where possible.

With a shelter facility in Alix, a sanctuary in Stettler and numerous foster homes across Central Alberta, there’s not much this shelter can’t do when it comes to animal welfare. They also provide educational services across Alberta, reducing stigma on animal breeds, informing children about responsible pet ownership and advocating for animals given a second chance at a life of love and happiness.

SCARS helps communities by taking in pets that are unwanted or slated for euthanasia. We collect pets from remote area dog pounds and veterinary clinics that act as the pound. We also take in stray and abandoned pets, many of which are sick or injured. Every animal is given a veterinary and behavioural assessment and any medical care or rehabilitation it requires. We spay/neuter, vaccinate & microchip every animal that comes into our care. We find loving homes for more than 2,000 pets every year.
Preventing pet overpopulation is also a big part of what we do. SCARS actively works within northern Alberta, partnering particularly with First Nations and Métis communities, where there can be a lack of accessible and/or affordable pet services.
Our Spay-Neuter-Return program provides spaying and neutering, vaccination and micro-chipping for owned pets, and our Walls 4 Winter program provides those who participate in SNR with an insulated pet shelter.
